Which wood should I Top my guitar with?
I am in the process of making a super-strat. Like Eddie Van Halen, Steve Vai, etc. The first step is to pick out a tone wood. I am going to make my guitar body with warmoth’s guitar body builder. I have narrowed down to either swamp ash or alder, but I cant decide, so I am going to use both. Which one would sound better as the core wood and which would be better as the top?
If your going for super strat, then go for alder because it sounds the best when playing this kind of music. Really, why not just save all the work and check out Charvel Guitars. The company started by modding strats to be much more high performance. Interestingly enough, Jackson guitars was made out of that company.
